Mammoth Life
Happy New Year!! (December 2011 - January 2012) Submitted by Mammoth Life on Wed, 01/11/2012 - 14:49

Here's to the bonafide year that 2011 turned out to be!!  With the release of our Rock N' Roll Kids - EP, a successful Kickstarter campaign, complete tour of the entire midwest, west, and west coast, and a cross country move from Lawrence to San Francisco; ML couldn't be happier.  But as always... with every mountaintop scaled, there still lies even more still to be tackled.  We are intent on continuing our acsent; rung by rung/ song by song/ note by note.  Thanks to everyone who made this possible, our family, friends, and extended family, ie all the bands along the way.

Thank you Hospital Ships, Jumbling Towers, Talking Mountain, Cloud Dog, Cowboy Indian Bear, Panda Circus, Haunt Ananta, Kissing Party, Musical Charis, Bellafonte, Ornery Little Darlings, Fingers Of The Sun, The Black Fortys, Continents, High Diving Ponies, Tut Tut, Sleeping In The Aviary, Little Brazil, and all of the other countless bands who helped us have a bunch of kick ass shows in 2011.

Thanks to the Lawrence Music Scene and all the venues (Jackpot, Replay, Taproom, Record Bar) record stores (Love Garden, Kieffs) publications (I Heart Local Music, Larryville Chronicles, lawrence.com, The Pitch, Too Much Rock, and Oh! Snap! Photography) and radio stations (96.5 The Buzz aka Sonic Spectrum, 90.7 FM KJHK) for your support and love.  We miss you all already!

Also, thanks to Mates Of State for your invaluable and intangible acts of inspiration.  Thanks for the "nudge" towards SF.

We ushered in 2012 with some of our closest friends, Bradly and Joe from Haunt Ananta, who visisted us in SF for a week.  They are currently residing in Lawrence working on some killer jams.  Thanks for everything homies!  See you sooner rather than later I hope!!

2012 is already looking very promising!!  We've been writing new songs and building demos for our upcoming third full-length album.  This release will be self-titled, simply Mammoth Life.  Not exactly sure when it will be released... but we are spending a great amount of time, energy, and effort assembling the pieces to the puzzle right now as we speak.  We are also at the moment, interviewing a handful of SF and Bay Area drummer and bass players with the hopes of performing many shows with ML as a four piece in and around the Bay Area over the next year.  Rehearsals and practice will begin within the next few weeks... look for shows from us sometime in February/ March!!

Here's to having the best year to-date in ML's career this year!!  We look forward to sharing it with all of you in the coming months.

Hittin The Road, As Only Two; Making Moves Submitted by Mammoth Life on Tue, 08/02/2011 - 16:43

It's official; Mammoth Life's Rock N' Roll Kids - EP is out!!  Thanks to Satisfying Records, 90.7 KJHK, Cowboy Indian Bear, and Cloud Dog for throwing us the best tour kick-off/ EP release party any band could ask for.  The Jackpot was well attended and as a result... a sweaty mess this past Thurday!  Thanks to all who attended including Boo & Boo Too, Tyler Gregory, Hidden Pictures, Larryville Chronicles, I Heart Local Music, Lawrence.com, Bradly Girard & Joe Gronniger, Ethan Miles, and all of our fans, family and friends!!  As most of you now know, this was in fact our final Lawrence performance of 2011, as we are now out for a month and a half on tour through the entire midwest, west, and westcoast; followed by a band-move to San Francisco in October!!  For live accounts and information surrounding The Jackpot release party; please check these show previews AND reviews:

In addition to the album dropping, we're also going to have our first propper music video debut as well!!  During the few days building up to the Jackpot release party, Elizabeth and I took two days to record a promo video for "Tightrope Walker" w/ Rachel Helling {"Galaxies" vid for Hospital Ships}.  We expect the music video to drop on vimeo within the next couple weeks while we're on tour... we'll keep you posted!!

We enjoyed a "final supper" in Lawrence on Friday July 29th w/ Neil (ML Apparel), my Mother, and Bradly Girard at Cielito Lindo... from there, headed to Wichita.

Kirby's was packed.  One of those small 50 - 60 capacity bar/ venue/ hole in the wall joints that's condusive to a bonafied, rock moment.  Bellafonte killed it.  A six-piece indie-rock combo w/ jazz, surf, and spaghetti-western elements.  (Two horns, violin, guitar, bass, drums).  The leaders of the group go back a few years w/ us.  Frank Bravo & Christy Oeur; two young aspiring musicians back in March 2009.  They both came to ML's Blank Page performance in Wichita w/ The Paper Airplanes & Boo And Boo Too.  They were wide eyed & supportive then... now they've developed a truly unique & genuinely great band in Bellafonte.  Kirby's was a hit... we'll be back.  Check us out on twitter & facebook to view a picture of Kirby's packed to the gills!!  http://twitter.com/#!/mammothlife

Flooding and road construction added another hour and a half travel time to Omaha... got to the venue a bit late; but show got off a-okay regardless!  Albeit w/ a little Amplifier trouble... easy fiz; chord from the Fender Super head to the speakers needed re-connected.  That said... oye, oye, oye!!  Omaha is a lot of fun.  Talking Mountain's stage presence is unrivaled.  Lazer light show, fog machines, really quirky twee-dance, pop.  They are along w/ St Louis' Jumbling Towers, ML's favorite band.  I rallied the troops (aka Audeience) and encouraged them to bum rush the stage while Talking Mountain was performing "The Abdominal Snowman." So Killer.  Check out a VIDEO of the bum rush to the stage and the moment that followed via this facebook link:

Lincoln is right up our alley, like Eugene Oregon & Lawrence Kansas, it's one of those cool "college towns."  Swinging by on a Sunday, we did expect the show to be a little slow considering... boy were we wrong!  Played w/ Powerful Science {pictured} and Tsumi; thanks Heather and Luke for the genergous hospitality!!

Did a bit of camping last night in Atlantic, Iowa... just arrived in Des Moines today!  The Pathfinder aka The ML Tank just got a tattoo on the road {pictured}

Tonight!!  Mammoth Life/ Bradley Unit/ Elizabeth Arynn at Vaudville Mews in Des Moines!!  Show at 9:30 pm
